Proof SAE's
I think I may have bought (I did buy) a proof coin for the $2 over spot at my local coin dealer. I was buying some coins and it was included with the batch. All the coins are older and are in uncirculated condition but for the one proof!
Here is a picture I found of the same coin, it's a 1991 coin. http://www.moderncoinmart.com/cart1/...hp?imageid=577 http://www.moderncoinmart.com/cart1/...hp?imageid=578 How did I do? Did I do go or what! |
Re: Proof SAE's

Re: Proof SAE's
I think Dolly Parton has a saying, "You have no idea how expensive it is to look this cheap."
Sort of like a $100 paper FRN ... |

here is a scan of a 2002 proof that I bought direct from the mint.
it has the W mint mark on the back. the fields are mirror shiny, the scanner makes them look black. |

quote: The United States Mint also produces a proof version for coin collectors. The Silver Eagle has been produced at three mints. One is the Philadelphia mint, and some of those issued there carry a "P" mintmark. In the early years of the series, the San Francisco mint issued proofs and these bear an "S". More recent proofs are from the mint at West Point, New York. The latter have a "W" on the reverse, as illustrated here. |
